Description

Sherry FitzGerald Letting`s are pleased to offer this charming one bed cottage to the rental market.

Built circa 1915, our cottage is at the southern end of a short terrace.

It has been transformed in recent years.
The front facade of 100 years ago is all that remains; everything inside has changed.
The internal walls have been removed to allow a stylish open plan kitchen / dining / living space.

This thoughtful updating of the cottage also included the upstairs area where an engineered stairs now leads to a bathroom with electric shower and a double bedroom.

Externally, there is a rear yard with an outhouse containing the washing machine and dryer and some space for extra storage.

The cottage is presented in excellent condition and will make a lovely cosy home.

The upgrading of this cottage by a careful owner has resulted in a great little home within walking distance of the city centre.

E-mail us now to make an enquiry this charming cottage.

History:
Ladys Well is one of the few wells within Cork city.
It is located north of the city centre, on the eastern slope of the small valley that leads out to Blackpool.
It gave Ladys Well Brewery, (founded in 1856) just below the well, its name, while what is now Leitrim Street was formerly called Ladys Well Street.

Around the time these cottages were built, the world was a very different place - WW1 was raging on the European continent and in 1915 its destruction spread to the middle-east with the ill conceived Gallipoli campaign. The War also touched Cork in that year with the sinking of the Lusitania off the Old Head of Kinsale with the loss of 1198 souls.
